A Superb Finish to a Great Season of Athletics!

Whittlesea City Little Athletics is absolutely ecstatic with the results from all our athletes that competed at the State Track & Field Championships on the 28th & 29th of March 2015.

Our 64 athletes amassed a total of 17 Medals - 8 Gold, 2 Silver & 7 Bronze! We had many athletes making the top 8 qualifiers for the final in either track or field and they all enjoyed and gained a lot of experience from competing in a high pressure event situation.

For some it was their very first State appearance. It can be very daunting with many onlookers from the sidelines. Regardless of their results, we are very proud of their achievements and couldn’t be happier as they all qualified to represent themselves and Whittlesea City at the 2015 State T & F Championships.

We say farewell to our U15 athletes as they competed for the last time at these Championships. Congratulations to Dharmanjot Gill collecting 2 Gold medals in a stellar performance in the U15G Discus & Shot Put events. What an amazing performance by Jot! Lachlan Lamb bagging 3 Bronze Medals in the U15B 100m, 200m & 100mH events and to Sasho Lumakovski, 2 Bronze medals in the U15B Discus & Javelin events - fantastic effort from both boys! Special mentions to Leah Wright, Bianca Paton, Taylor Rudston Brown, Lisa Compton-Robins, Joshua Valle & Izaak Long who have competed for many years for Whittlesea City at the State Championships.

Other athletes achieving medals were U9B Thomas Sims - Gold in the High Jump, U10G Petalina Atoa - Gold in the Shot Put, U14B Ethan Wright - Silver in the 1500M Walk, U12G Vanessa Lumakovski - Silver in the Discus, U11G Amisha Murugathas - Bronze in the Discus & U14B Jackson Gregory - Bronze in the Discus. Congratulations to all these athletes on their fantastic performances!

We had one young lady that we thought might have a good weekend and she certainly did! U10G Shehana Wijesundara won the Grand Slam!

  • 80M Hurdles in a new State Record - 13.78 seconds

Congratulations Shehana, taking home 4 Gold Medals and 2 State Records. Shehana is the first athlete at Whittlesea City to win all 4 gold medals at State! She is an amazing athlete and thoroughly deserves her achievements. Well done Shehana & congratulations to all 64 Whittlesea City athletes that competed at the 2015 State Championships.
